Q.
What are some things gymnastics has taught you?
Gael:
Gymnastics has taught me so many valuable things like
discipline, time management and attitude.
Q. Do
remember your first competition? How old were you and
how did you do?
Gael:
I remember my first competition. I was around five
and I just competed on a couple events. I remember
that i finished my floor routine way before the end of
the music and just sat in my ending pose for a long
time!! It was funny!
Q.
What is it like training at Omega?
Gael:
Training at Omega is great! I've never been happier.
Me and my group all work really hard but have fun at
the same time. We have a great club, great parents and
lots of amazing young up-and-coming gymnasts!!

Q.
You had two big disappointments back-to-back
this summer, not being able to compete at
either the Pan Am Games or the World
Championships. What have you learned from
these misfortunes?
Gael:
I learned that things can happen differently
than you hoped or expected and that is just
part of life.
Q.
You have competed internationally several
times over the past couple years...which is
your favourite country you have competed in?
Gael:
I really like Australia, France and USA. |
Q.
What was it like at the recent Massilia Cup in France?
Were you nervous competing among some of the best
gymnasts in the world?
Gael:
I was not too nervous. It was a really good experience
for me. I was really happy with my competition because
I hit all four events, and got to practice my new
routines in competition.
Q. You
are the current national champion of Canada and are
looking towards another title in 2004. Who do you
think are your biggest competitors and who else do you
think is strongly in the running for a spot on the
Canadian Olympic team?
Gael:
I think there are a number of gymnasts who could
win the title and I think it will depend on whoever
has a clean, stuck competition.
Q.
What is it like training with your little sister
Charlotte? What kind of advice does she seek from you?
Gael:
I really like training with Char because she's my
sister and also my best friend and its nice to be
able to spend time with her training. Sometimes I just
give her little tips on things and tell her stuff like
how at competitions the equipment is not what your
used to and just stuff like that.

Q.
You are known for your solid beam work,
beautiful lines, and extreme
flexibility...what kinds of things do you maintain
these qualities?
Gael:
For my beam I just do lots of numbers of stuck beam
routines and try to practice each one
like its a big competition. I do lots of
ballet and dance training and I always try to
make each movement look good as if someone is
taking a picture. I really believe that
gymnastics shouldn't just be hard
skills, but that it should be artistic and
beautiful. As for my flexibility, I was
just born with it!! :) |

Q.
What would making the Olympic team mean to you?
Gael:
Making the Olympic team would mean so so much for me!
It would mean all my hard work, sacrifices and hours
in the gym would be paid off. I would feel very proud
to represent myself, my family, my gym and my country in
Athens!!
Q. If
you were stranded on a deserted island, which three
items and three people would you want to be stranded
with?
Gael:
This is a tough question!! For the items I
would bring a good long book like Harry Potter or the
Lord of the Rings, a T.V and my collection of
DVDs. For the people I would probably bring my friends
from the gym.
Q.
What is it like when people come up to you and ask you
for an autograph or a picture?
Gael:
I feel so special and flattered! I can understand
exactly how they feel because I'm a fan of many people
and I always try my hardest to appreciate my fans and
reply to them individually.
Q.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
Gael:
In my spare time I love to shop, read, watch
movies, or do some activity outside. |
