helped the Canadian team to a second place finish (behind
the USA). She competed on bars (8.900) and beam (8.600).

Congratulations Gael and the rest of the Canadian team!
Best wishes to Heather Purnell for a quick recovery from
the knee injury she sustained at the meet. Also, seven new
personal pictures

February
25, 2005 - There are many new updates! First, the
following is a message from Gael letting everyone know
about today's Team Cup in New York:
"Hey
Everyone! Right now I'm in New York for the Team Cup
(Canada- USA- Mexico). I was originally supposed to go to
the American Cup, but my sore knee has kept me from
training fully on floor, and vault. I compete tonight on
bars and beam, and I am quite excited! Tomorrow we are
going shopping and sightseeing which is also exciting,
cause this is my first time to New York, and so far I have
not seen anything but my hotel, the airport and the gym! I
am working on a journal entry which includes my trip to
Athens, so don't forget to keep checking my site for
updates! And thanks so Rebecca for being the greatest
webmaster! ;-) One more thing: I just want to say to all
my fans thank you for being so supportive of me and that I
would not have accomplished so much without you! Well
that's all for now! -Gael"
A new page
has been launched - Charlotte's
Corner. Here, you will find information and pictures
of Gael's little sister, Charlotte, who is also a top
level gymnast. Also, Gael's photo
gallery has been updated with over 50 new pictures,
including new galleries from the Olympics and Olympic
Trials, along with more of Gael's personal photos from

August

competed in Saint Etienne, France yesterday for the France
vs. Canada meet. The Canadian team was second (138.800) to
France's gold medal winning 144.800. Individually, Gael
was 8th all around with scores of 8.450 on vault, 8.850 on

July
25, 2004 - Congratulations
Gael - 2004 OLYMPIC TEAM MEMBER!
The past couple weeks have
been full of up and downs for Gael, but the end result was
well worth it, as she is a member of the team that will
travel to Athens.
At
the Olympic Trials in Toronto, Gael competed well the
first day, finishing sixth all around. However, during her
floor routine, she injured her knee. On day two, Gael
scratched the first three events and competed only in the
final rotation, uneven bars, to protect her knee. The
first five Olympic team members were announced that
weekend, with Gael tentatively given the sixth spot. The
following Sunday (July 18), Gael would be given the
opportunity to verify her routines in front of a selection
committee to determine whether or not her knee could take
the pounding of four full routines. At the verification,
Gael performed all of her routines well and secured the
final spot on the team! Congratulations, Gael! Here is the
entire Olympic team:

entry has been added. Gael wrote this entry a few
months ago, but I was unable to add it because of computer
problems.
June
5, 2004 - After
suffering from leg injuries the past little while, Gael
intended to only compete bars and beam at this weekend's
National Championships in Mississauga, Ontario. However,
on her first event (bars), Gael took a bad fall on her
Jaeger and landed on her head, which resulted in a trip to
the hospital. Fortunately, she is expected to be okay and
back in time for Trials.
May 31,
2004 - Sorry for
the lack of updates! My computer had several viruses and
today, my mom was able to fix it. There is quite a bit to
update, so I'll be doing that over the next couple days!

Gael has sent in some pictures from her trip to France
this past November, so be sure to check those out!
February
22, 2004 - Sorry
for the lack of updates! Gael would like to clear up a few
rumours: "I injured my back training, at the end
of January. I was advised by my doctor to do light
training for a while as a precaution. I have been doing
light training in the gym as well as physiotherapy. I
will be resuming full training in 1-2 weeks!" Best of
luck with your recovery, Gael! :)
January

August
16, 2003 After a
couple days of podium training at Worlds, the Canadian
team has been finalized. Unfortunately for Gael, it looks
like she will not be competing. She was chosen as
the alternate (most likely due to injuries) and will not
compete unless a member of the team withdraws. During
Thursday's podium training, her ankles were heavily
wrapped and did not train on all events. However, despite
this news, Gael carried the Canadian flag during the
Opening Ceremonies last night! Good luck to the Canadian
team! There is also a new guestbook because the old
one reached its 100 entry limit! If you would like to view

However, congratulations to her Canadian teammates who
finished second! Photos
from Pan Am training and the awards ceremony have been
added, as well as some from Pan Am/World trials and also
there is a new photo is the miscellaneous gallery.
July
31, 2003 Gael will be competing at the Pan Am Games in

July
14th, 2003 CONGRATULATIONS, GAEL! She will be
competing as part of the Canadian team at not only the
upcoming Pan Am Games, but also at the World

Gael!
July
13th, 2003 Gael had a better competition today and
finished fifth all around! Again, she scored the highest
total on beam and improved her all around total from a
35.800 to a 35.950! The world team will be selected
tomorrow at noon EST, so stay tuned! Congratulations,
Gael!
July
12th, 2003 After the first day of competition at the
World/Pan Am Games team trials, Gael is in sixth place.
Her all around total was a 35.800. She scored an 8.800 on
vault, an 8.600 on bars ("I fell on my clear-hip
full, which is a new skill for me. I need to stay on bars
tomorrow and be clean everywhere else," Gael told
International Gymnast), a 9.350 on beam (the only score
above 9.000 on beam!), and a 9.050 on floor.
However, she is less than eight tenths out of the lead!
(Heather Purnell leads right now with a 36.575). Gael is
still in a great position to make either team, so best of
luck to her as day 2 of competition begins tomorrow!
July
10th, 2003 Gael will be competing at the World Trials
this weekend at Sports Seneca in Toronto, Ontario. A good
performance here will most likely guarantee Gael a spot on
this year's World Championship team, which will compete in
Anaheim, California in mid-August. For more information,
visit Gymn.ca. Good luck, Gael!
May
25th, 2003 CONGRATULATIONS, GAEL - 2003 Canadian

February
24th, 2003 We've
gone through yet another server change, we're now located
at seethestars.net/gael but you can still reach the site
by going to gaelmackie.com. Gael will unfortunately not be
competing in the American Cup like we announced earlier
due to injury. She wrote a new journal
entry to tell us about it. She also answered a few Ask
Gael questions. Come back again soon for more updates!
January 15th, 2003 A small update to include an article
in which Gael is featured on Inside Gymnastics. Gael was
invited to the 2003 Visa American Cup, a prestigious event
taking place in Fairfax, Virginia and will compete on
March 1st. Good Luck Gael!
January 12th, 2003 First of all, Happy New Year to
everyone. We're again sorry if our server problems caused
any inconveniences. Gael competed at the Australian Youth
Olympic Festival, an international competition in
Australia as part of Team Canada. She really came out as a
team leader in this competition with the highest
